New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer—
Finding the way back home!
The Moon meets the Sun at zero degrees in Cancer at 2:41 a.m. (EDT) on June 21, 2020. This Annular Solar Eclipse in the sign of the crab is also forming an exact inconjunct aspect with Saturn at zero degrees in Aquarius. Cancer is the sign of the mother, healer, home, and family. With a New Moon Solar Eclipse at the zero degree point arriving on the heels of the Solstice, this is an opportunity for powerful new beginnings around home and family. We may feel the need to reach out to family members or connect with our “family” of friends. It may be time to think about joining with others in the spirit of community, creating an environment where we feel supported and nurtured. Questions we may be asking at this time are — “What do I need to feel nurtured? Where can I go when I need to feel loved and accepted? Who and where are my people, my soul tribe, those who share my values?”
With Mercury just entering a retrograde period until mid-July, we may feel the need to reconnect with family—or friends from the past that feel like family. This retrograde period would be a good time to reach out to others. Mercury Retrograde in Cancer is trine to Neptune in Pisces and sextile to Uranus. We may find healing self-expression through art, music, or creative writing. Words or brilliant ideas may flow easily as if we have a direct connection to the Divine—and at this time, we do!
With Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius, we may have to juggle work responsibilities with our need to spend time with loved ones, or take care of our own needs. If we have taken on too much work, we may need to pull back and create more realistic schedules. We may also join with others to confront authority, or rigid structures, rules and regulations. We may want to join groups that are benefitting society and are doing work that is for the good of all.
Mars in Pisces is sextile to Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn. We can work to expand and transform our lives, bringing our dreams down from the plane of imagination into the realms of reality. Or, we can get lost in just dreaming, escaping into a world of fantasy of how great things could be—if only! Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn can bring powerful, far-reaching changes to the structures we have created in our lives, but we have to take action to benefit from this connection to Mars helping us make a dream real.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse gifts us with a chance to re-connect with our ancestors, our home, families, and Mother Earth. If we have been too focused on material things, work, career, ambition, it is time to bring a sense of belonging back to our lives, to join with our soul family to create a world that protects, fulfills, nurtures, and heals. We need that now more than ever!
